Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), one of the largest Universities in Scotland, has signed a 15-year, 13,500 s/f lease, for the entire ground floor and lower level, at 64 Wooster St. in SoHo. The Scottish-based academic institution plans to link the New York campus with the University's sister school, GCU London, and the highly successful British School of Fashion based there.
Studley's executive managing director Paul Revson and corporate managing director Zev Holzman, along with Associate Ryan Rafter represented the GCU in the transaction, while Marc Simon of Isaacs and Co. represented the landlord, Zar Properties. Asking rents were in the $230 per s/f range.
"SoHo is one of Manhattan's most chic and sought-after neighborhoods," Revson said. "There is a great synergy between GCU and the exceptionally unique, renovated retail space which will soon be home to their New York campus. The university will be in the center of one of Manhattan's great fashion districts, just steps away from international designers, national retailers and haute couture boutiques."
Glasgow Caledonian can trace its origins back to 1875 through its founding colleges and has become one of the largest universities in Scotland with nearly 17,000 students from over 100 different countries.
