National trial and litigation law firm Kaufman & Company has revealed the opening of its New York office, as well as the addition of Eugene Scheiman, a litigator with 30 years of experience. Scheiman will lead and serve as a member in the New York office focusing on complex commercial and construction litigation, First Amendment, as well as IP litigation and franchising matters. Kaufman & Company is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. The New York office is located at 733 3rd Ave., 16th floor.

Prior to joining Kaufman & Company, Scheiman served as a Partner with Arent Fox where his practice area focused on complex commercial litigation, including construction, franchising and publishing. Prior to Arent Fox, he was a partner at a New Jersey law firm, where he served as co-chair of the construction litigation practice group.
Included in Legal 500 and Who's Who in American Law, Mr. Scheiman's representative matters include defending the city of New York against claims of approximately $1 billion resulting from the collapse of World Trade Center 7 onto a Con Edison Power Station situated under the building on September 11. Also, he served as lead counsel in a jury trial representing one of the country's largest mall builders, operators and owners in matters related to the fraudulent diversion of loan proceeds by associated firms and individuals involving complicated issues of RICO liability, as well as conspiracy and kickbacks.
Mr. Scheiman obtained his JD from Brooklyn Law School, graduating cum laude and obtained his BA from Long Island University.
He is a member of the New York State Bar Association; the New York City Bar Association; American Bar Associations Sections of Intellectual Property, Environmental Ligation, Individual Rights and Responsibilities, and Litigation; the First Amendment and Media Litigation Committees; the International Franchise Association and the Federal Bar Council; and is a former chair of the Executive Committee of the American Friends of the Jerusalem College of Technology.
