VHB promotes Zamft to director of planning
October 7, 2013 - Long Island
VHB has promoted Eric Zamft, AICP, to the newly-created position of director of planning on Long Island. Zamft will expand VHB's planning practice on Long Island, building on the firm's current community planning, site development, and municipal consulting assignments. He will continue to support regional planning efforts for airports, transit-oriented development, and community development programs.
Zamft has been with VHB for nine years and is experienced in the management and performance of planning, land use, zoning, and development studies for communities throughout New York. He has worked on award-winning community vision plans and supported the implementation of Community Development Block Grant programs. Zamft is also proficient in the planning, organization, and facilitation of stakeholder and community visioning workshops, presentations, and outreach programs.
"Eric understands municipal planning on Long Island and is a creative problem solver," said Northeast regional manager, Tom Lucivero. "This is an important step in expanding VHB's planning practice in the region and capitalizing on Eric's planning experience working in the communities of Farmingdale, Elmont, Uniondale, and elsewhere."
Zamft is actively involved with the American Planning Association, including recently being a mentor for the APA Metro NY Chapter's Mentorship Program, and has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 2001. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Public Policy from Boston University and a Master of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
Zamft relocated to VHB's Hauppauge office on September 9.
