Gene Kaufman Architect, P.C. (GKA) has been tapped to design a new seven-story mixed-use development at 56 North 9th St. in the Williamsburg neighborhood. The firm is designing all aspects of the project, including the interior design concept provided by GKA's Interiors Group.
"Williamsburg is this generation's SoHo, the quintessential case study of urban transformation from industrial decay to artist garret to hip destination to vibrant community," said Gene Kaufman, founder of GKA. "While still early in the process, 56 N. 9th will complement the sought-after neighborhood's evolving landscape as it continues its incredible growth."
The project, which is being developed by Ronit Realty LLC, is slated to include 53 residential units on the building's upper floors with a mix of retail and dining on the lower floors. The project will also include a roof terrace and on-site parking.
GKA has been designing projects in the borough since the firm's founding more than 25 years ago, creating a portfolio of work including the Hotel and Residences at the Williamsburg, the Decora and the Lucent, all in the Williamsburg neighborhood, as well as other area projects such as Luxe 226, The Dunham and The Rialto.
