DiMarco Constructors finalized the renovation of a 7,500 s/f Downtown Detail Office for the Rochester City Police Department (RPD). The office, located in the Sibley Building at 30 North Clinton Ave., is part of the Sibley Redevelopment Project led by WinnCompanies. A recent ribbon cutting, led by the mayor and police chief, presented the new substation to the community. DiMarco Constructors served as the general contractor on the Sibley project, leading a number of subcontractors through months of remodeling. In this phase of the redevelopment, the new RPD police detail office, which was part of the original Sibley’s Department Store, was completed. The project, which started in May of 2013, brings one crime prevention officer, 32 patrol officers, six supervisors and one administrative staff member to the heart of the city center during hours when downtown businesses are most active. Conveniently located across from the site of the new regional transit center and just down the street from a central bus transfer point, the presence of the officers from the new substation was immediately visible. This project is just one part of the new overall Sibley development, which will also feature a day-care center and office space. DiMarco is also the general contractor on the construction of the day-care facility. “The Sibley Building is a piece of history in downtown Rochester,” said Anthony Soprano, vice president of estimating and pre-construction services for DiMarco Constructors. “DiMarco Constructors is honored to have the opportunity to help redevelop this landmark and bring vital services to the heart of downtown Rochester. We look forward to future opportunities to showcase the potential of this great property as the build-out continues.”
