Pia Silvestri, a veteran of commercial real estate in New York for 20 years, has been named director of operations at the Empire State Building, according to Anthony Malkin, president of Malkin Holdings, L.L.C., which supervises The World's Most Famous Office Building.
Silvestri assumes her new post following nine years with Tishman Speyer, where she served most recently as director - property management at The MetLife Building. Before that, she was property manager at 666 Fifth Ave.
At the Empire State Building, Silvestri is responsible for the daily operations and property management for the building, and directs the planning and execution of all property operations and maintenance for the entire asset. She also assists in overseeing a third-party project management team involved in the building's $550-million upgrade program.
"Leaving an organization where I had spent half of my real estate career was not an easy decision for me, but the opportunity to join the ESB team was an exciting prospect. The building is undergoing a complete transformation, and being a part of that is a unique opportunity not a lot of people get to experience," said Silvestri. "It's wonderful to be a part of this process and work alongside a talented group of extremely motivated and dedicated individuals."
"Pia's passion for accomplishment and growth and unique skills as a teacher and manager fit right in with our excellent team at ESB," said Malkin. "The Empire State ReBuilding program continues and we're glad to have her on board."
In 2012 Silvestri was accredited as a LEED® Green Associate, and she is an associate member of BOMA New York.
In 2009, she received the Real Estate Board of New York's On-Site Manager of the Year award.
A resident of New York City, Silvestri grew up in Rockland County, New York, and attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she received a B.A. in political science.
