According to the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate, Scott Rechler, chairman and chief executive officer of RXR Realty LLC, will be honored at its 43rd Urban Leadership Award Dinner to be held on October 3 at the Waldorf Astoria New York. The Urban Leadership Award annually recognizes a leading real estate professional who advances the industry's growth and prestige. Past recipients have included Stephen Ross, John Zuccotti, William Rudin, Douglas Durst, Bruce Ratner, Michael Fascitelli, Mary Ann Tighe, and most recently, Mitchell Rudin.
The Urban Leadership Award Dinner is NYU Schack's largest fundraising event of the year, generating funds for student enrichment programs. Attended by more than 700 top industry professionals, the evening begins with cocktails in the Jade and Astor reception rooms and continues into the Grand Ballroom for dinner and a brief program toasting the honoree. This year's dinner co-chairs are: James Kuhn, NYU Schack advisory board chairman and president of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank; Bruce Mosler, chairman of Global Brokerage of Cushman & Wakefield, Inc.; and Robert Blumenthal, managing director of Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc., who will come together with an impressive roster of other industry giants to honor Rechler.
"With his professional achievements, as well as his civic and philanthropic leadership roles, Scott Rechler is a Schack grad who truly exemplifies the essence of this award," said Rosemary Scanlon, divisional dean, NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate. "His accomplishments in the industry represent NYU Schack at its best and guide the way for future graduates to make an impact in real estate."
Rechler leads the multibillion dollar private real estate company RXR Realty, which has become one of the New York tri-state area's most active real estate companies with a $7.5 billion portfolio. The company was formed in January 2007 subsequent to the sale of Reckson Associates to SL Green. Rechler had served as chief executive officer and as chairman of the board during Reckson's dynamic growth throughout New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, Westchester, and Connecticut. In June 2011, Rechler was appointed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to serve on the Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and in September 2011, he was named to serve as the board's vice chairman. Rechler earned a Master of Science in Real Estate from NYU Schack in 1990.
"Scott Rechler is one of the most distinguished and successful professionals in our industry," said Kuhn. "As an active member of NYU Schack's advisory committee, he is supportive of our programming and applies his expertise to advance the real estate field."
