Racanelli Construction Company, Inc., a leading construction management, general contractor and design/build resource for commercial, industrial, retail, medical, pre-engineered and multi-family housing projects, has been named the general contractor by The Stony Brook School for the construction of a new 19,500 s/f, two-floor building named the Kanas Commons. The building will house a new dining room and student center. Racanelli won the contract in a competitive bid process.
The $5 million project will consist of a steel frame building with a brick exterior, also incorporating block drywall, aluminum, and glass windows. The building design features a round two-story main entrance designed to complement the existing building design of the campus. The project is being built while class is in session.
Overseeing the project is project executive Richard Racanelli, project manager Steve Peragallo, and project supervisor Gary Raynor. In addition to assuring that the highest standards of quality construction are met, their focus is on implementing an effective site safety plan, as well as keeping the project on schedule for its completion date this summer. The project began on May 1st, 2012.
