The New York Chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Women’s Network (NYCREW) will continue its exploration of paths to leadership at its next Leading Ladies in Real Estate: Summer Series, as Silverstein Properties CFO Robbin Orbison will offer her experiences and expertise in an informal talk from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.
The event will be held at the offices of event sponsor Akerman Senterfitt, 666 Fifth Avenue, New York City. It follows a highly successful June 26 breakfast with NYCREW Board Member and Trepp LLC CEO Annemarie DiCola, who discussed in depth how she shifted from her planned career path as a law firm partner to running a leading CMBS firm.
"NYCREW’s Leading Ladies series is all about successful professionals sharing their stories, and creating new relationships among our members in an informal setting that’s especially appropriate to summertime," says Shari Linnick, a Vice President of Trepp LLC and 2013 NYCREW President. "Annemarie is the CEO of my company, and as such I have had the distinct pleasure of working with her on a daily basis, so I was particularly thrilled to hear her share her story with our members. I am very much looking forward to hearing Robbin’s experiences as another outstanding woman in commercial real estate."
Orbison has more than 25 years of experience in accounting in the real estate industry, including positions as Senior Vice President for Development Accounting at The Related Companies and Division Controller for Trammell Crow Residential. With expertise in development accounting and management of accounting operations, she has taught courses in both of these subjects at the NYU Schack Real Estate Institute, where she is an adjunct faculty member. She has helped build the accounting teams and infrastructure to support some of the largest real estate projects in the country, including Time Warner Center and the World Trade Center in New York, City Place in West Palm Beach, and World Market Center in Las Vegas.
As the original New York area chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women’s Network, NYCREW offers a substantial number of educational and networking events throughout the year to increase members’ knowledge and offer opportunities to build and enhance personal relationships.
Patricia Dunphy, a Senior Vice President of Rockrose Development, will continue the summer program on Wednesday, August 14th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the offices of Akerman Senterfitt. NYCREW will announce its fall schedule shortly.
"One of our goals in selecting speakers for this program series was to offer different views and experiences," says series organizer Erin Beitz, a NYCREW Board Member and Director of Acquisitions for Carmel Partners. "Now we'll hear more about the accounting side of our business from one of the major executives in our industry."
Capacity is limited for these in-demand events, and advance registration is required. Costs are: NYCREW Members, $30; CREW Chapter Member, $50; Non-CREW Member, $60; Students, $30.
