07-16-2013 - 100 Women Who Care about Long Island to hold inaugural meeting

June 20, 2013 - Long Island
According to Tracy Lobdell, founder of 100 Women Who Care about Long Island, the group’s inaugural meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16th. Location: Jewel Restaurant - 400 Broad Hollow Road - Melville, NY 11747 Rubie Corporate Plaza on the corner of the LIE Service Road and Route 110 Registration: 6:15 p.m. Meeting: 6:30-7:30 p.m. This philanthropic group, comprised of local Long Island women, is supporting Long Island charities by banding together to increase the impact of contributions to non-profits serving Nassau and Suffolk counties. During a recent interview, Tracy shared why this group will make a sizable and positive difference on Long Island: “When you donate $100 to a charity, you often wonder if you’re actually making a difference. When 100 people donate $100 at the same time, the group accomplishes collectively what few of us could on our own. A $10,000 donation can enable one of our local charities to complete a project or attain a goal that may have been out of reach!” Here’s how it works: • The group meets four times a year, for just one hour each time • Any member of the group can nominate a local charity upon joining (charities are prequalified prior to any meeting) • At the meeting, three of the pre-qualified charities are chosen at random and, after a brief presentation by the nominating member, the members vote on which charity to support • Everyone writes a $100 check, on the spot, directly to the winning charity That’s it! No event planning, no committees, no raffles, no telemarketing, no volunteering – just a group of charity-minded women working together to give back to our own communities. All charitable organizations must be located in, and serve, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and must have a 501 (3) non-profit status. Tracy encourages everyone to review the website www.100wwcli.org, join the group and nominate their favorite Long Island based charity no later than July 9 to be considered at the upcoming meeting.
