Montgomery McCracken partner Phyllis Weisberg has been appointed to serve as chair of the cooperative and condominium law committee of the New York City Bar Association. Now in a transition period with current chair, Andrew Brucker, her 3-year term commences September. The cooperative and condominium law committee addresses legal issues specific to cooperatives and condominiums, including recent case law, lender policies, governance issues, discrimination in co-ops and condos, and issues between boards and apartment owners. The committee comments on pending legislation and drafts proposed legislation. It also develops forms used by practitioners, including, most recently, a condominium unit sales contract. The committee presents several CLE programs throughout the year. Weisberg is a member of the firm's New York office and its real estate practice. Her practice has a special emphasis on cooperative and condominium matters. She speaks frequently on matters of interest to co-op and condo owners, board officers and members, and realtors. She is a frequent content contributor to Habitat and The Cooperator, each a publication for board members, apartment owners and property managers of co-ops and condos. Weisberg is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut.
