What is your biggest leadership challenge, other than the "glass ceiling"? I wouldn't really say there is a "glass ceiling". Either you are an effective leader or you are not. The biggest challenge in terms of leadership right now is making opportunities heard. Great ideas are not great unless they are presented and implemented with great results. What is the most daring thing you've done for your career? How did it turn out for you? I made a giant retail map, really a poster, and carried it to my first pitch on Madison Avenue on a 100 degree day and we walked to the pitch. I got the assignment and I was off to the races, so to speak. Which project, deal or transaction was the "game changer" in the advancement of your career? Leasing four stores in the same building on Madison Avenue... my very first Madison Avenue listings. This resulted in more business for me and a very happy client. What do you consider to be the most successful way to increase referrals? Keep the referring broker in the loop of communication with regular updates on the progression of your work. Everyone likes to know their referral is being taken care of. I have also found that the referring broker can help you keep things on track. They can make a call and support your position or advice to the tenant. What is the BEST advice you have ever received? You can either think you can, or you can think you can't. Either way you will be right. Where would you like to be in 10 years? I would like to be on the beach in Southern California. Hopefully I will still be running too. What is your favorite tip for balanced living? Make time to do what you love when you are not working. All we really have is our time. Use it to be productive and when you are not working productively, do something you really love. For me it is running.
