Lawyer Thomas Ruggiero, who joined New York's owner/developer/management company Jack Resnick & Sons in 2007 to handle a wide variety of legal matters, has been promoted to associate general counsel at the firm.
Ruggiero who previously served as assistant counsel of the firm, was primarily involved in lease negotiations, acquisitions and dispositions, bankruptcy claims, and mortgage financings. In his new post, he will broaden his responsibilities to encompass virtually all legal issues impacting the company while reporting to Resnick's general counsel, Kalpana Gajjar.
"During the past six years, Thomas' legal expertise has assisted our corporate counsel with everything from commercial office leasing to complex financial transactions," said company president Jonathan Resnick. "We are pleased to recognize his achievements with this promotion."
A graduate of Pace Law School and Florida International University, Ruggiero was admitted to the New York State Appellate Division, First Department in April 2010. Prior to joining Resnick, he served as a law clerk Hass & Gottlieb in Scarsdale, where he facilitated real estate purchase-and-sale processes, including bankruptcy and credit-related issues for clients. Before that, he worked as a legal assistant at Stephen M. Richmond Associates in Newton, MA.
Ruggiero is a member of the board of directors at the 200 Chambers St. Condominium and a treasurer at the FIU Alumni Association of Greater New York. He is also an active volunteer at Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City.
