Parsons Brinckerhoff, in JV with Kvaerner, has received a contract from Calpine Garrison LLC, a subsidiary of Calpine Corp., to design and build the Garrison Energy Center, a 309MW combined cycle gas-fired power plant. The JV will perform the engineering, procurement and construction of the facility. Parsons Brinckerhoff will be responsible for the design, procurement of the balance of plant equipment, and the commissioning. Kvaerner will lead the joint venture as well as perform the construction of the facility.
The plant will employ highly efficient combined-cycle technology with advanced environmental controls. The project is expected to begin construction in early 2013 with completion during the summer of 2015.
"The Garrison Energy Center aligns with our strategy to focus on EPC gas-fired power plant construction as the designer, while partnering with the contractor," said George Pierson, president and CEO of Parsons Brinckerhoff. "As the industry continues to shift to cleaner burning natural gas, we anticipate a significant number of projects in North America over the next decade. We are excited to be in partnership with Kvaerner on this project for Calpine Garrison and look forward to delivering future opportunities together."
