Downtown Albany BID welcomes Mister Cuts

The Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) recently held an official ribbon cutting for Mister Cuts at their 63 Columbia St. The eventwas free and open to all. Mayor Gerald Jennings and Georgette Steffens, executive director of the BID, spoke at the event. The business is owned by Amy DiGiandomenico, a 10-year veteran stylist specializing in men's hair. A graduate of Orlo School of Hair Design and Cosmetology, DiGiandomenico started her career at Gregory's Barbershop in Clifton Park and furthered her experience at the Men's Room Barbershop in Downtown. "Establishing yourself is hard work, but it's rewarding," said DiGiandomenico, "With help from family and friends, I transformed a former lunch spot into a fully functioning salon. I feel great every morning." "We are excited to see another Downtown space being utilized," said mayor Jennings, "Mister Cuts is located in the center of downtown Albany, the hub for the area's financial, legal, and non-profit organizations, as well as a growing residential community. Services like these are essential for Downtown workers and the expanding residential population." The business is positioned on Columbia Street in downtown Albany situated close to current and potential clientele. DiGiandomenico is prepared for expansion with additional hair stations ready as business grows with the dream of turning Mister Cuts into a franchise in the future. "With years of experience backing her venture, we are certain that Amy will prosper at her new location," says Georgette Steffens, Executive Director, BID, "I am happy to see professionals grow and prosper in the heart of Albany's vibrant Downtown environment." Since 1996, the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) has worked to restore, promote and maintain the character and vitality of downtown Albany and improve the quality of life and overall image of downtown for those who work in, live in and visit New York's Capital City.
