According to Castellano, Korenberg & Co., Christine Hallahan and Marisa Cochrane have joined the firm's team of accountants.
Hallahan with 25 years of experience in public accounting and the management of closely held businesses. In her current role, Hallahan serves as the liaison between clients and other professional advisors, providing value for clients by helping them navigate the complexities of taxation and financial planning.
Hallahan is an expert in the areas of taxation and financial planning for high net worth individuals, income tax planning and reporting for high net worth individuals and private businesses, divorce tax planning and trust and estates. Hallahan believes in creating a stable financial future by educating clients and providing them with the most current tax and financial information available. She has handled complex financial issues including tax and estate implications of same-sex marriage and domestic partnerships, fiduciary accountings, partnership, gift and estate tax reporting, and responses to taxing authorities with regard to client matters and IRS positions on various tax issues.
A member of several industry associations, Hallahan serves on the Board and Speakers Committee of the Estate Planning Council of Nassau County. She is also on the executive board as director for the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), and chairs the organization's Estate and Personal Financial Planning Committee and Woman's Focus Group. Ms. Hallahan is involved in the New York State Society of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, and contributes regularly to conferences and publications relating to tax and estate planning. Hallahan holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Pace University.
Cochrane joins with an eight year background in the construction industry, four years of which were devoted to accounting. Prior to joining Castellano, Korenberg, she was employed as a senior accountant by Commodore Construction Corp. in Westchester. In this role, she prepared financial statements and supporting schedules to complete monthly close procedures, analyzed all general ledger accounts, assisted with financial and tax audits, and prepared quarterly tax returns and corporate reporting requirements.
Cochrane holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from CUNY Queens College, as well as an Associate of Science in Business Administration from CUNY Queensborough Community College, where she became a member of the Alpha Beta Gamma Business Honor Society. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in Taxation.
