Long Island Commercial Network holds annual board meeting Dec. 12
January 14, 2013 - Long Island
The Long Island Commercial Network (LICN) had their annual Board meeting on Dec. 12. It was unique in that in addition to planning for next year, they discussed how the storm, Sandy, affected LICN members and their customers. There were many who were and are affected by the havoc. For some, there was camaraderie between members that brings a smile to one's face and warms the heart.
Neil Garfinkel of Garfinkel Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson, LLP and an LICN sponsor for years, and his wife invited Bradley Diamond, of Coldwell Banker Commercial, a member and Realtor to stay with him. Diamond, his wife and daughter stayed with Garfinkel and his family for 7 days. That demonstrates in part the strength of the relationships built at LICN. In another instance, Harvey Kolin who was traveling back from out of state thought of his LICN friend Jason Kohl who lives in Long Beach, an area well known for its devastation, and bought him a generator in Georgia on his way.
We also learned about a bright spot for one member despite the major loss she has experienced. A team from the Rachel Ray show came to her town and interviewed various residents. Michelle Michaels was selected to appear on the Rachel Ray show on December 17 and it was quite an experience topped off by her receiving thousands of dollars in prizes for which she is so grateful.
In addition, we discussed ways LICN could be helpful to victims in the various towns. It was decided that we would make every member aware of the various organizations one could volunteer with, contribute to or otherwise connect to in any way to determine what is needed if they so desire. We want to be a great source of information so our members can assist those in need. This will be posted on our website. All and all we are quite a team. We meet the fourth Tuesday of every month. Check the calendar and become part of the team.
