For the second consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Joshua Stein PLLC among the nation's top commercial real estate law firms. The designation was reported through the U.S. News Media Group, which collaborates each year with Best Lawyers to rate and rank nearly 10,000 law firms across 80 legal practice areas. The publication claims more than two decades of experience in identifying the country's best firms, businesses, and institutions.
"I continue to be surprised and humbled by the recognition from both my peers my clients, and the legal community," said Stein. "It's even more gratifying to be acknowledged for doing something I truly enjoy."
Within the past three months, Stein's name also appeared in the Super Lawyers magazine list of the "Top Ten Attorneys" in the New York Metro Area. Stein, the only solo practitioner on that list, joined three other real estate lawyers and six lawyers from other practice areas in the magazine's top ten across all practice areas in the metropolitan area.
Stein's name also appeared in the 2012 list of the ten "most highly regarded" real estate lawyers in the world, published by Who's Who Legal: The International Who's Who of Real Estate Lawyers. Again, he was the only solo practitioner on that list. And he was the only attorney whose name appeared on both top ten lists.
Stein is a member of the American Arbitration Association panel of neutrals, and has handled Part 36 appointments in New York State Supreme Court. Since 1997, Stein, a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, has chaired the Practicising[1] Law Institute's annual two-day seminar on commercial real estate financing.
His articles have appeared in dozens of business and legal journals, including a monthly column in the New York Observer's Commercial Mortgage supplement. He has shared his knowledge of commercial real estate law and practice in five books: "A Practical Guide to Real Estate Practice" (2001); "Lender's Guide to Structuring and Closing Commercial Mortgage Loans" (2004); "A Guide to Ground Leases (With Model Documents and Checklists)' (2005); "Stein on New York Commercial Mortgage Transactions" (2006); and "A Guide to Troubled Commercial Real Estate Loans for Lenders and Borrowers" (2010).
