Renovations to Fairport Apartments complete-104-unit apartment campus
November 12, 2012 - Brokerage
The renovation of Fairport Apartments, located at 1030 Whitney Rd., is complete. The facility underwent extensive rehabilitation inside and out, including improvements to the roof, siding and windows, as well as the installation of platform lifts to facilitate access to the second floor. There is extensive wheel chair access in the interior of each apartment, including roll-in showers in the larger units. This work modernized the apartments, including the implementation of a more functional floor plan.
Constructed in 1972, this 104-unit apartment campus was redeveloped by the Fairport Baptist Home, Rochester's Cornerstone Group, Ltd., and Perinton Churches Housing, a consortium of 13 local churches concerned about senior housing. The complex remains affordable for those 62 and over.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in the community building. Dignitaries attending and speaking include Monroe county executive Maggie Brooks, assemblyman Sean Hanna, assembly district 130; James Smith, supervisor, town of Perinton; Fritz May, mayor, village of Fairport; Lenny Skrill, director, Upstate Capital Projects, NYS Division of Housing & Community Renewal.
