Farrell Fritz has welcomed four attorneys from the Southampton law firm of Gilmartin & Bregman. David Gilmartin, Jr., Eric Bregman and David Gilmartin, Sr. have joined the local office. Amy Murphy has joined the firm's Hauppauge office.
Gilmartin, Jr. is a partner focusing in land use, zoning, real estate, commercial matters and related litigation.
He has previously served as Southampton Deputy Town Attorney; Southampton Town Attorney and Special Assistant District Attorney. He has lectured for the Suffolk County Bar Association on zoning and land use. He is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. Gilmartin earned his J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from St. John Fisher College.
Bregman is counsel to the firm, concentrating in land use, zoning, real estate, environmental, condemnation, commercial matters and related litigation.
He has served as East Hampton Town Attorney (and Special Assistant District Attorney) and as Special Counsel, Town of Southampton, for coastal erosion litigation and legislative drafting matters. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bregman was Partner and Of Counsel at Sive, Paget & Riesel, P.C. (New York City) and was a Law Clerk to Marvin Frankel, United States District Court, S.D.N.Y. Bregman has been an Adjunct Professor of Law in Advanced Civil Procedure and Environmental Litigation at Cardozo Law School. He also taught Environmental Litigation at Pace Law School. He lectures for the American Bar Association, the Practicing Law Institute, the New York State Bar Association, and the New York Land Institute. Bregman formerly chaired the Environmental Law Committee of the New York County Lawyers Association. He is a former member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York's Committees on Environmental Law, Federal Legislation, Federal Courts, State Legislation and Professional Ethics and served on the Association's Council on Judicial Administration. Bregman earned his LL.B. from the University of Pennsylvania and his A.B. degree from Harvard University.
Gilmartin, Sr., a Southampton, NY resident, is counsel to Farrell Fritz, concentrating in land use, real estate, trusts & estates, business and corporate matters. Gilmartin, Sr. has served as Southampton Village Attorney, Southampton Town Attorney, and as Suffolk County Attorney and Assistant District Attorney.
He is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. Gilmartin, Sr., earned his J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law and his A.B. degree from College of the Holy Cross.
Murphy is an associate, focusing her practice in commercial and residential real estate purchases, sales and financings. Murphy was an associate at Gilmartin & Bregman since 2005.
Previously, she was an associate at Berkman, Henoch, Peterson and Peddy, P.C. (Garden City, NY) and a judicial intern to the Hon. Marquette Floyd, Presiding Judge of the Appellate Term, 9th & 10th Judicial Districts. Murphy earned her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro College. She received her B.A. from Wheeling Jesuit University.
