GreenbergFarrow site development coordinator Dawn Schaffran has earned a license as a registered filing representative (commonly known as an "expediter") from the N.Y.C. Dept. of Buildings.
Expediters work with government agencies to accelerate the permitting and approval process for developers and retailers pursuing commercial real estate projects in the city. Organizations requiring a work permit for a project typically hire an expediter or expediting agency to review and submit project plans and documents to the Buildings Department. She is based in GreenbergFarrow's Somerset, N.J. office. In her capacity as a licensed expediter, she will help clients navigate city agencies and avoid bureaucratic obstacles. Her work as in-house expediter includes assembling relevant paperwork, plans and documentation, preparing and filing applications, and procuring letters and certificates of occupancy.
"In addition to our design and architectural capabilities, GreenbergFarrow has an excellent national reputation in the field of development services," said Keith Johnston, a principal with GreenbergFarrow based in the Somerset office.
"In her role as expediter, Dawn Schaffran will continue to boost profitability and efficiency for our clients."
In addition to the Buildings Department, Ms. Schaffran will interface with such City agencies as the Department of Transportation, the Landmarks Preservation Commission, the Fire Department and the Department of Environmental Protection.
Ms. Schaffran, who has worked for GreenbergFarrow since 2000, has helped coordinate site development services for such prominent clients as The Home Depot, Texas Roadhouse, Kohl's and Office Depot.
As site development coordinator, Ms. Schaffran is involved with projects from the planning stages to the grand opening. She has extensive experience coordinating and directing teams involved with design and construction, including surveyors, geotechnical, environmental, traffic, and fire protection personnel, civil engineers, architects and landscape architects.
Ms. Schaffran earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
