August 13, 2012 - Brokerage
Destiny USA is proud to reveal the Hartmann and Lenox, the first two store locations to open inside of Destiny USA's expansion, have achieved LEED certification. Hartmann received its certification on July 9th while Lenox received official certification on July 16th. Lake Architectural, of Marcellus, worked closely with Bergmann Associates and Destiny USA to work out a strategy of unique and innovative ways for Lenox and Hartmann to achieve the points required for certification. Both spaces reduced potable water by 75% off the baseline and Hartmann is directly tied into Destiny USA's rainwater harvesting which, as a whole, will conserve 4 million gallons of water annually. Lenox and Hartmann demonstrated nearly 24% energy use reduction from energy lighting loads and improved indoor air quality by using low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints and coatings. Their floor finishes and adhesives are low VOC as well. Mark Mareane, of Lake Architectural, said, "We are so proud of this achievement for Lenox and Hartmann. This is no minimal task as each tenant, each level, each area is different, leaving the project team to determine the best way to certify their tenant." "It is a true team effort with amazing work and coordination from Lake Architectural and Bergmann Associates," David Aitken said. "It's great to see such collaboration and success along with the innovative ways that the team integrated sustainable design into the spaces." Lenox and Hartmann participated in Destiny USA's construction waste recycling program, recycling 75% of their construction waste. The 1.3 million s/f expansion of Destiny USA achieved LEED Gold certification on February 6. All 100 new tenants are required to achieve LEED certification, each finding sustainable, creative ways to incorporate into development. Destiny USA will have an official LEED Gold Ceremony on July 30th.
