February 18, 2008 - Long Island
H2M, a multi-disciplined engineering and architectural service firm with offices in New York and New Jersey, will be one of the key contributors in a major renovation plan for a 50-acre field on the corner of Crooked Hill Rd. and Community College Dr. This park renewal is part of Governor Spitzer's 2008-09 budget plans to help renew community areas, and fields. Â
The park will be completed in 2 phases of construction during which new playing fields, concessions stands, maintenance buildings, announcer building, playgrounds, picnic areas and parking will all be built. Â H2M will be one of the lead architects and engineers and is responsible for all of the buildings on the site. Â Three buildings in total: the maintenance building which will house maintenance equipment, soccer storage, restrooms and concession; the announcer building which will house baseball equipment, announcer's booth and concession; and the main building which will be constructed in two phases. Â Phase 1 will include concession and restrooms, phase 2 will include office space and an assembly room. Â
A public meeting was held on Tuesday, January 29 at the Suffolk County Community College campus to unveil the plans for the parkland property. Â This parcel of land was originally part of Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center, and fell into poor condition over the years. Â Â "H2M is pleased to be involved in the renewal of this park and providing a place for the community to enjoy," said H2M president and CEO John Molloy, P.E.
