Faith Hope Consolo, chairman of Prudential Douglas Elliman's Retail Group, will serve as co-chair for the Tenth Annual Women of Valor Awards Tea on Thursday, August 2nd, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf=Astoria. The event benefits the St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters and joining Consolo as Tea co-chair will be Jeffrey Mann, president of Mann Publications. Television host Joan Lunden has been named honorary chair and keynote speaker. "My involvement with this organization dates back a decade to the very beginning of the Women of Valor Tea, which has grown into one of the most important events of the summer season," said Consolo. "Each year, the Grand Ballroom is packed with nearly 1,000 women and men who donate critical funds to an organization that daily provides meals, shelter and educational programs to thousands of people in New York City and surrounding areas." Consolo was among the first recipients of the Clarisa Awards at the Tea, which was initially organized by Mann to honor philanthropic women in the real estate, fashion and financial services industries. This year's Clarisa Award recipients include: Cynthia Boyea of Paramount Group, Inc.; Christine Chipurnoi of Wells Fargo Insurance Services USA, Inc., Diane De Chiaro, Bon Aviv Investments; Karen Dome, Marcus & Millichap; and Cindy Feinberg, JFK&M Consulting Group. The 2012 Guest of Honor is Ellen Canny Goldberg of HAWORTH and receiving the organization's Humanitarian Awards are Michelle Cooper, Columbia University Medical Center, and Tina Vasan, CB Richard Ellis, Inc. The committee co-chairs were Lisa Dimoulas, Neuberger Berman, and Laini Marie Rey, Jones, Lang LaSalle. St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters operates 22 food pantries, soup kitchens, safe havens, drop-in centers and shelters throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey. Run by the Capuchin Franciscan Friars, the pantries serve over 1.2 million meals annually. Consolo said, "Right now, it is the working poor who make up the Food Pantries' biggest population. For those of us who can, we much reach into our pockets and open our hearts to lend a hand." Earlier this year, Consolo launched the Real Estate Has a Heart Foundation to oversee the distribution of her donations to multiple charitable causes.
