Touro College of Law recognizes Cohen of Certilman Balin

Michelle Cohen, an associate in the Real Estate Practice Group at Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP, was recently honored as a 2012 Public Interest Attorney of the Year by Touro College Jacob D. Fuschberg Law Center at its Annual and Goods and Services Auction.
From Touro she graduated, cum laude, earning three CALI Awards for Academic Excellence, the National Association Women Lawyers Award, and the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in Labor and Employment Law. In addition, she was recognized for her exemplary contributions to student life, having served as president of the Women's Bar Association, vice president of the Public Interest Law Organization of Touro, election chair of the Student Bar Association, and competition editor of Touro's Moot Court Board. Cohen continues to contribute to her alma mater as a member of Touro Law Center's Alumni Council and Mentor Program. She was featured as the "Alumn of the Month" during September 2009.
Active in her community, Cohen is a mentor in the Lawyers Involved in Kids' Education (LIKE) Program, which is affiliated with the Long Island Mentoring Partnership, and was chosen to speak at their 14th Annual Benefit. She is a member of the Action Long Island Young Adult Alliance and serves as captain of the Action Long Island/American Heart Association Long Island Corporate Wellness Challenge for the firm, as well as a member of the Marcum Corporate Workplace Challenge Committee. She also volunteers at the Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center in Huntington and is vice president and legal counsel for her condo board.
Cohen earned her bachelor of arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from The George Washington University in 2004.
She spent a semester abroad in London at the American Intercontinental University. A member of the American, New York State, Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations, Cohen is admitted to practice in the state of New York.
