Bonarelli-Lugo speaks at LICN breakfast meeting, "The Procuring Cause-Who's Going to Get Paid?"
May 21, 2012 - Long Island
The LICN breakfast meeting was planned to be a discussion of issues and challenges that can arise in commercial sales. Titled "The Procuring Cause-Who's Going to Get Paid?" the meeting focused on conflicts between more than one broker expecting to collect a commission for the same deal. Determining the procuring cause is the way the issue is effectively resolved in many cases.
Linda Bonarelli-Lugo, the 2012 MLS president led the discussion. Several fictitious case studies were discussed and the lively discussion got everyone thinking. Neil Garfinkel, a real estate attorney and sponsor and Board member of LICN raised some interesting questions and reminded the attendees of bvrelevant facts to keep in mind. Specific ways to protect oneself and eliminate the possibility of confusion or jeopardy to commission were proposed and discussed.
The next LICN meeting will be at the Hilton Hotel on June 1 and LICN asks attendees to come armed with flyers of properties they have for sale and those they need to fulfill their clients needs.
