April 23, 2012 - Long Island
More than 500 consulting engineers and clients gathered for the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York's (ACEC New York) 45th annual Engineering Excellence Awards gala at the Waldorf=Astoria on March 24. Honors for exceptional projects in public infrastructure and private sector works in 11 areas, including building systems, structural systems, transportation, energy, environmental, waste and storm water, and industrial processes and facilities engineering, were awarded at this premier event. New York State Department of Transportation commissioner Joan McDonald served as master of ceremonies for the second consecutive year. Twenty-five New York State consulting engineering firms received ACEC New York's Diamond Award for their work on 26 outstanding projects throughout the world. The judging was based on complexity, future value to the engineering profession, original or innovative application of new or existing technologies, and meeting or exceeding client needs. Lizardos Engineering was awarded Diamond in the building/technology systems category for the expansion and renovation of the New Katz Women's Hospital at North Shore University Hospital. This project has been awarded a Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. To read a previously published story regarding this project visit http://nyrej.com/49149
