February 4, 2008 - Long Island
A recently completed North Fork Bank branch in Long Beach, N.Y., whose interior glows with bright southwestern colors and decorative stonework, won a prestigious award for JRS Architect P.C., one of Long Island's largest architecture and design firms. The Mineola-based firm won the 2007 Furniture and Furnishings Award in a juried competition sponsored by the American Institute of Architecture Long Island Chapter. Results of the competition were announced recently. "It's always a pleasure to receive honors for our work, but it is especially gratifying to be recognized by our colleagues at the AIA Long Island Chapter," said JRS president John Sorrenti. The 3,800 s/f North Fork Bank branch at 11 Long Beach Plaza on Park Ave., features a southwestern flavor with an interior that is awash in bright colors and rich textures. Decorative stonework is found on the tellers' counters and coffee counter and is accented with decorative tile. Heavy wood stretches across the interior ceilings. The bank opened in July. Over the course of more than 20 years, JRS has designed about 3,000 projects, including banks throughout Long Island, New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut as well as in Florida. JRS' roster of bank industry clients is a veritable Who's Who of Banking and includes Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Citicorp, Hudson City Savings Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Madison National Bank, New York Community Bank, North Fork Bank, Peapack-Gladstone Bank and Wachovia Bank NA.
