The Nassau Industrial Development Agency has approved an economic development compact that will allow The NPD Group to undertake an $8 million renovation of its headquarters. The action is expected to result in the creation of 50 new construction jobs and an additional 10 permanent full-time jobs in Nassau County within three years.
NPD, one of the nation's leading market research firms, has proposed alterations to its 117,000 s/f headquarters at 900 W. Shore Rd, that include a new entrance and expansion of the company's information technology center.
The compact will provide the company with an exemption from sales taxes on the construction and equipping of the facility, estimated at $490,000.
The project is expected to be completed by September 2013.
"The NPD Group is one of Nassau County's premier businesses and the kind of company we hope to keep and attract," said Nassau County executive Edward Mangano.
"NPD is a marquee company that is expanding rapidly, but it's outgrown its current space and the ability to efficiently service its clients," said Joseph Kearney, executive director of the Nassau IDA.
