Adams & Co. Real Estate, LLC brokered an 18,380 s/f deal for the Museum of Mathematics. The museum, slated to open in the fall, was looking for a home with a ground-floor retail presence and chose 11 E. 26th St., which faces both Madison Sq. Park and the Flatiron Building.
The Museum signed an 11-year, 18,380 s/f lease. James Buslik of Adams & Co. represented the landlord, East Twenty Six Associates, while Paul Wolf of Denham Wolf Real Estate Services represented the tenant.
"The Flatiron District has considerably developed over the last few years and the Museum of Mathematics is a testament to the area's evolution as a destination for arts, culture, and dining" said Buslik. "The museum is the only one of its kind in the U.S. and its presence will dramatically increase the amount of pedestrian traffic and visitors in the area from both tourists and N.Y. residents alike."
The museum strives to enhance public understanding and perception of mathematics through an ongoing series of dynamic exhibitions and programs. Its exhibitions will stimulate inquiry, spark curiosity and reveal the wonders of mathematics. A continuing curriculum of activities will lead a broad and diverse audience to understand the evolving, creative, human and aesthetic nature of mathematics. The museum is governed by a board of trustees led by Glen Whitney, and it received its official charter from the New York State Department of Education on November 17, 2009.
