SL Green Realty Corp. receives Energy Star Labels from the U.S. EPA for eight buildings in its New York City portfolio

According to SL Green Realty Corp., eight buildings in its N.Y.C. portfolio are recipients of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Energy Star Label. 100 Park Ave., 420 Lexington Ave., 100 Church St., 521 Fifth Ave., 673 First Ave., 600 Lexington Ave., 711 Third Ave. and 16 Court St. (Brooklyn) have all been recognized for superior performance and among the most energy efficient buildings in the nation. According to the EPA, properties with the Energy Star Label are more than 30% more efficient than those without, resulting in lower operating costs for both the landlord and tenants. "We are pleased that so many of our assets are recognized with this label, and is a reflection of our commitment toward our environmental sustainability program throughout the SL Green portfolio," said Steven Durels, SL Green executive VP, director of leasing and real property, "and exemplifies our continued effort to provide our tenants with a best in class work environment." In addition to the N.Y.C. properties, seven buildings in SL Green's Westchester suburban portfolio, namely 360 Hamilton Ave., 140 Grand St., 100 Summit Lake Dr., 500 Summit Lake Dr. and 500 West Putnam, and two within its Connecticut portfolio, 750 Washington Blvd. and 1055 Washington Blvd., boast the Energy Star Label distinction. Five of the aforementioned—360 Hamilton, 140 Grand, 750 Washington, 500 West Putnam and 500 Summit Lake Dr., received the award two years in a row. SL Green Realty Corp., New York City's largest office landlord, is the only fully integrated real estate investment trust, or REIT, that is focused primarily on acquiring, managing and maximizing value of Manhattan commercial properties. As of September 30, 2011, SL Green owned interests in 58 Manhattan properties totaling more than 35.3 million square feet. This included ownership interests in 25.8 million square feet of commercial properties and debt and preferred equity investments secured by 9.5 million square feet of properties. In addition to its Manhattan investments, SL Green holds ownership interests and debt and preferred equity interests in 32 suburban assets totaling 7.3 million square feet in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Westchester County, Connecticut and New Jersey, along with four development properties in the suburbs encompassing approximately 465,000 square feet.
