Gropper and Stern of Newmark Knight Frank Retail lease 10,000 s/f
February 4, 2008 - Brokerage
Outdoor furnishings showroom DelGreco & Co. has leased, on a triple net basis, a newly constructed, 10,000 s/f building in Manhattan's Design District.
Newmark Knight Frank Retail managing director Gregg Gropper and associate Jonathan Stern represented DelGreco & Co. in lease negotiations, while Newmark Knight Frank Retail associate director Jay Gilbert represented landlord Lanson Properties.
Located at 242 East 58th St., the seven-story limestone and glass building, designed by internationally recognized architectural firm Edward Mills & Associates, joins a Paul Rudolph- designed steel and glass building two doors to its east.
Gilbert said, "These two projects represent the most significant developments in the Design District in decades."
DelGreco will utilize the bottom three floors for showroom operations dedicated to its private label collections, showcasing designs by Glyn Peter Machin, Vladimir Kagan, Hugo de Ruiter and Jeanne Scandura. The upper three floors, comprised of two luxury apartments — a triplex and a duplex, each with their own terraces — will accommodate visiting overseas designers and company principals.
This is the second Manhattan location for DelGreco, a showroom specializing in fine outdoor furniture collections by manufacturers such as Editions, Gervasoni, Richard Schulz Design, Richardson Allen, and Santa Barbara Designs. The first is a 6,000 s/f store at 232 East 59th St., which was established 12 years ago in the space formerly used by Jack Lenor Larsen.
