Adams & Co. Real Estate brokered a five-year, 7,200 s/f lease at 148 W. 37th St. for couture fashion company Rachel Roy. The full-floor, newly-renovated space will serve as the company's headquarters and showroom. Rachel Roy launched her women's fashion label in the spring of 2005 after working for Rocawear fashion brand where she met her husband Damon Dash. The collection, characterized by modern silhouettes and elegant fabrics, is geared for the modern working woman and has gained the attention of the global fashion community. Worn by celebrities around the world, the Rachel Roy line is carried by high-end retailers including Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Ave. and Neiman Marcus. James Buslik and Joseph Friedman of Adams & Co. represented the tenant and landlord in the transaction. Though details of the lease were undisclosed, the asking price was $36 per s/f. "Midtown South, the home of New York's fashion week, is experiencing an unprecedented fashion renaissance and drawing more and more big-name brands," said Friedman. "We are thrilled to place Rachel Roy in this exceptional, full-floor space ideally located just off Seventh Ave." Also known as The Lefcourt Central Building, the 14-story property boasts 24/7 building access. Notable tenants include Valentine USA and National Marine Manufacturers with retail tenants Elie and Sam Robert Fashions Inc. "New York's showroom market continues to expand and attract high-end tenants in and around the Fashion District," said Buslik. "Showrooms are the future of New York's fashion industry."
