Consolo to speak at Long Island Go Red for Women
January 30, 2012 - Long Island
The chairwoman of Prudential Douglas Elliman's retail group, Faith Hope Consolo, and 2011 co-chairwoman of the NYC Go Red for Women luncheon, is this year's speaker for the 11th Annual Long Island American Heart Association Luncheon on February 16 at the Crest Hollow Country Club, 8325 Jericho Tpke.
Considered one of Long Island's most sought after charitable events, it is traditionally attended by more than 900 of the area's preeminent women business leaders who raise awareness and significant funds for the American Heart Association (AHA) and its mission.
Consolo will be introduced by her friend and colleague Kennetha Pettus, an American Heart Association board member and survivor, who will first testify on behalf of other survivors.
"I am so honored to have been asked to speak at this event, especially alongside Kennetha," said Consolo. "AHA is an organization that has helped countless women by providing knowledge and resources. We hope our messages will touch the hearts and minds of the audience."
Heart disease and stroke are the number one and four killers of Long Island women and cardiovascular disease, in general, is accountable for approximately one death per minute among females in the U.S. The American Heart Association is the nation's oldest and largest voluntary health organization, dedicated to building healthier lives, free of heart disease and stroke. Go Red for Women is part of the organization's solution to broaden awareness and help save women's lives. To date, AHA has raised $202 million nationwide and enrolled more than 1.4 million people in the Go Red for Women movement.
Prior to the luncheon, starting at 9:45 a.m., will be a series of workshops including Empowering Women: Mind-Body-Spirit, and Stealth Nutrition. In addition, the group has organized a "Red Carpet" raffle and silent auction featuring a wealth of entries that include home design makeovers, vacation packages, wine tours and more. More information about the organization, the day's events, sponsorships and luncheon may be found on the American Heart Association website at www.heart.org/longislandnygoredluncheon.
