Filco Carting Corp., a waste removal, recycling and materials management company in the tri-state area, is one company to watch in 2008.                               As one of the largest privately held waste management companies in New York City, Filco Carting has made a name for itself as an industry leader and a one-stop shop by saving their clients money and providing environmentally sound recycling programs and services. Some of their major clients include Con Edison, Verizon, Goldman Sachs, The NYC Board of Education, among many others. An innovator in helping companies find ways to become more environmentally responsible, Filco Carting offers numerous innovative programs that help businesses, institutions and agencies save money, generate new revenue with their recyclables and operate as a model green business. Over the years, Filco Carting Corp. has streamlined its practices in order to help preserve the planet in the most efficient way. Under its recycling division -Meserole St. Recycling - of the 8,000 tons of waste they pick up each day only 8% of it goes to landfill. The company is also the first NYC commercial waste and recycling hauler to use low-decibel, nonpolluting compressed natural gas trucks (CNG) to service its Manhattan customers. These trucks run on natural gas, generate very little noise and emit minimal omissions. "We are the first private waste company in the five boroughs to use these new CNG trucks," said Domenic Monopoli, vice president and chief operating officer at Filco Carting Corp., whose company recently purchased three CNG trucks and have already budgeted eight more trucks for 2008 and 2009. The company is also a member of the US Green Buildings Council (USGB) in New York and one of the few carting companies that are providing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified construction and demolition waste recycling. Over the past year, they have assisted their LEED accounts in the preparation of construction waste management/recycling plans/reports for these projects. Over the past year, Filco Carting has implemented recycling programs for many hospitals and schools in the New York area, including Mount Sinai Hospital and New York University. They have also made an impact on the real estate landscape, working with various New York City building managers and owners whose goal is to "go green"-- training their staff on ways to become more environmentally friendly. In the New York real estate market, some of their clients include major property companies such as Hines and Newmark. For both of these companies, Filco provides basic waste collection and recycling services as well as customized universal waste and E-scrap recycling.   The company has also successfully developed diverse recycling programs for major businesses in the food manufacturing and wholesale distribution industry, including Sweet'N Low, Garden of Eden, Costco and Jetro/Restaurant Depot.  Over the next year, Filco Carting plans on going city-wide with their plastic grocery bag recycling program, which they developed six months ago. Their goal is to work with all the large commercial retail chains and wholesale distributors in the New York area. Currently, they are in the process of developing a program for Krasdale Foods. "In this very competitive market, we provide our customers and clients with the most comprehensive services at the best value in the marketplace for waste collection, recycling and materials management services. We help companies achieve their green business goals to become environmentally compliant at the highest possible level," said Monopoli, "That is what we think makes us special and different."
