"We are the first private waste company in the five boroughs to use these new CNG trucks," said Domenic Monopoli, vice president and chief operating officer at Filco Carting Corp., whose company recently purchased three CNG trucks and have already budgeted eight more trucks for 2008 and 2009. The company is also a member of the US Green Buildings Council (USGB) in New York and one of the few carting companies that are providing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified construction and demolition waste recycling. Over the past year, they have assisted their LEED accounts in the preparation of construction waste management/recycling plans/reports for these projects. Over the past year, Filco Carting has implemented recycling programs for many hospitals and schools in the New York area, including Mount Sinai Hospital and New York University.
