Sperry Van Ness brings new technology to region

December 26, 2011 - Long Island
David Madigan, president of one of Long Island's newest commercial property brokerages, has been around for a few years, but he and his team at the recently established Sperry Van Ness Commercial Real Estate Advisors are bringing something new to the area's real estate business. Madigan, formerly a managing director at Prudential Commercial, and his brokers at the new Holbrook-based firm are offering clients something no other firm in the region has offered before: powerful, sophisticated 21st Century technology and the ability to deal with distressed properties. "Sperry Van Ness has arrived with a portal on Long Island," Madigan said of the firm, which was founded in 1987 in Southern California and now has 153 franchised locations nationwide, primarily in secondary and tertiary markets such as Long Island. The technological edge starts with each broker's business card. The front is pretty typical, but the back contains a dark blue digital maze called a QR code, short for quick response code. Someone scanning it with a QR application on a smart phone will learn lots more about Madigan or one of his brokers, get taken go SVN's web page, find property listings and more. In addition, that same interactive QR code also can be found on signs that Madigan's new firm places on the properties it's representing.
