Muss Development LLC has leased 1,500 s/f at its Jackson Heights Shopping Center at 75th St. and 31st Ave. to video game retailer Game Stop. The store is expected to open next month and brings the center to 100% occupancy.
Nicholas Forelli, assistant VP, represented Muss Development and Michael Friedman of In Line Realty represented the tenant in the five-year lease with a five-year option.
Jackson Heights Shopping Center is a 134,000 s/f retail and office center. The property contains 400 parking spaces and is home to major retailers including Waldbaum's, Modell's, Rainbow Shops, RiteAid, Radio Shack, and Sovereign Bank, as well as Dante's Caterers, and a 20,000 s/f catering facility.
"The Jackson Heights Shopping Center is one of the most vibrant properties in the Muss portfolio," said Jason Muss, principal of Muss. "It is ideal for retail and has a fully occupied level of professional offices as well. Its location near major thoroughfares and public transportation creates a constant stream of pedestrian and vehicular traffic that helps ensure that retailers located there flourish."
Jackson Heights is among the most diverse neighborhoods in the nation with residents there and in surrounding areas hailing from virtually every corner of the globe, including South America and Asia. Dozens of languages can be heard spoken on the streets of this middle class community.
