Long Island
As an owner's/tenant rep, I am regularly in the field and rarely at my desk. Juggling the demands of managing construction sites, meeting new clients, writing proposals, interviewing contractors and vendors, project planning and networking with my colleagues is just the morning routine. How do I balance managing projects at multiple locations while maintaining the ability to be productive while mobile?
Here are several of my favorite applications to stay synchronized and productive. These are not substitutes for a desktop or laptop, but they are useful tools that allow me to stay organized and connected while away from the computer.
AutoCAD WS (Free) - Android & iPhone
AutoCAD WS is a mobile CAD application that gives you the flexibility to view, edit, and share your DWG and DXF files with anyone, anywhere in real time while on the go. Annotate and revise drawings while you are in the field. Easily open files you receive as email attachments directly on your device. See all aspects of your DWG file, including external references, layers, and image underlays. Use Multi-Touch zoom and pan to more easily navigate very large drawings. Add and edit text annotations directly on your device; no need for paper mark-ups. Validate distance measurements in the drawing. Save your edits to your AutoCAD WS online workspace and work with other people on the same DWG file simultaneously. AutoCAD WS immediately captures changes made by you and others.
SugarSync ($) - Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile
Have you ever been away from the office and realized you need a .pdf floor plan or Excel spreadsheet file that is on your computer? SugarSync puts ALL of your data from all of your computers right at your fingertips...anytime, anywhere from your device. With SugarSync, sync and share your files online, giving you access to everything directly from your device. You can sync existing individual files and folders between all your devices without having to drop them in a special folder.
Backing up new photos taken couldn't be any simpler. Just take a picture using your device's camera. SugarSync detects the new photo, backs it up to the cloud, and syncs it to your computers.
