Nearly 2,000 supporters attended the sixth annual Contractors For Kids Family Fun Picnic at Southaven County Park. The event raised $80,000 for Contractors For Kids (CFK), the largest Long Island charity supported by the construction, architecture, and real estate community. Founded by Stalco Construction and based in Islandia, NY, CFK financially assists families struck by serious childhood illness.
Suffolk County treasurer Angie Carpenter attended the event and thanked CFK members and supporters for their outstanding support for the community. The picnic featured performances by local artists, foods provided by regional restaurants and attractions and games for children and adults. More than 100 volunteers assisted the organization during the picnic.
Stalco Construction principal and CFK co-founder and president Kevin Harney said, "I would like to thank all supporters of Contractors for Kids for their volunteer work and financial contributions. This generous support by the building industry has allowed CFK to financially assist over 230 families of children in need of surgeries, long-term medical care, and therapy."
Founded in 2005, CFK has attracted enthusiastic support from over 300 local builders, architects, engineers, real estate firms, and other businesses. To date, CFK has raised more than $2.6 million from its supporters.
