Thru the Lens: 2011 P.W. Grosser Scholarship Winners

P.W. Grosser Consulting held their annual luncheon honoring the 2011 PWGC Scholarship Program winners. PWGC established these scholarships for local high school students looking to pursue a future career in the engineering field. Each year, PWGC requires an essay with every application, this year applicants were able to choose from three topics; Obama's alternative energy plan, carbon footprint and organic pollution on L.I. PWGC's 2011 Scholarship recipients include:
* (First Place) Brandon O'Brien from Bayport-Blue Point High School will be awarded a $750 scholarship. He will attend Cornell University this fall studying Natural Resources. He is ranked 1st out of a class of 193 and has a GPA of 100.24.
* (Runner-Up) Alexa White from Riverhead High School was awarded a $500 scholarship. She will attend the University of Maryland this fall studying Environmental Science. White is ranked 1st out of a class of 316 and has a GPA of 107.42.
* (Runner-Up) Amanda Miller from Sachem High School North was awarded a $500 scholarship. She will attend SUNY Oneonta this fall studying Environmental Science. She is ranked 40th out of a class of 574 and has a GPA of 97.03.
