Plaza Construction is relocating its national headquarters to 1065 Avenue of the Americas. The company signed a 35,000 s/f, 12-year lease to occupy the entire seventh floor of the 35-story, 681,790 s/f tower at West 40th St. owned by The Blackstone Group. "We are very excited about moving to 1065 Avenue of the Americas, an iconic building only a few blocks west of our current headquarters," said Richard Wood, President of Plaza Construction who added that one of Plaza's priorities was to remain in Midtown. "We also wanted to occupy a building with floor plates conducive to an open plan design in order to facilitate collaboration, since we will be merging our estimating and core and shell groups to achieve better operating efficiencies." Plaza's interiors division worked closely with HOK Architects on the interior design of the new space, while Cosentini Associates served as consulting engineer. Newmark Knight Frank's Paul and Michael Ippolito represented Plaza in the negotiations, while Newmark Knight Frank's Lance Korman acted on behalf of the landlord. David Brooks, Esq. of Paul Hastings represented the tenant, and Stuart Kaplan, Esq. of Blank Rome acted on behalf of Blackstone.
