The State Education Department's Board of Regents appointed John Sorrenti to a second five-year term on the board; subsequently, the board elected him chair of the State Board of Architecture, overseeing the profession's licensing, education and practice issues. Sorrenti, FAIA, is the founder and principal of JRS Architect, P.C.
Sorrenti leads the board in addressing issues affecting the future of the architecture profession. ―It's an honor to serve the state. I look forward to contributing to the education process so we can know New York is licensing exceptional professional architects,‖ he said.
Sorrenti founded JRS in 1986 and the firm now has offices in Mineola, New York City, and Princeton, NJ. While enjoying continuous growth for 25 years, he directed a firm that has built a reputation for excellence and has won numerous awards while designing thousands of projects for banks, hospitals, schools, stores, and corporate offices, among others.
