March 7, 2011 - Brokerage
Mc Gowan Builders, Inc. (MGB) broke ground for the new BMW of Freehold car dealership facility located at 4225 U.S. Highway 9 North. MGB serves the owner, DCH Auto Group, as general contractor. The architectural firm of GreenbergFarrow developed the design for the new dealership. George Liang, president, DCH Auto Group, said, "The new, state-of-the-art BMW dealership in Freehold will allow the BMW of Freehold team to serve our customers in an exciting and comfortable environment both in the showroom and the service areas. Construction of the new facility represents our longstanding commitment to building enduring relationships with customers and continuously enhancing the car purchase and service experience." Mc Gowan Builders' project manager Brian Volosin said, "The multi-million-dollar project encompasses demolition of a pre-existing structure; erection of a new, 28,000 s/f showroom building; expansion and renovation of a mechanic shop; and renovation of a separate, 10,000 s/f body shop." The new showroom building will house a car exposition area, which will feature a 14-foot-high, perforated metal panel ceiling; customer lounge; cafeteria; offices; bathrooms; parts storage; and enclosed service drive. The adjacent mechanic shop will feature 20 in-ground car lifts; high-speed Rytec overhead garage doors; an underground vehicle exhaust removal system; Ryko SoftGloss Maxx car wash with a water reclamation system; BMW's proprietary clinker tile flooring; and 52-gallon Energy Logic EL-500B waste oil boiler with a 250-gallon storage tank to generate heat and hot water for both the garage and a radiant ice melt system with under-surface, one-inch PEX tubing, which will be installed at the exit of the car wash. For the showroom structure, MGB will construct a perimeter concrete foundation and a six-inch slab-on-grade concrete floor with W/6x6-W2.9x2.9 wire mesh on a crushed stone sub base. The building will feature a structural steel frame with Kawneer 1600 glazed curtain wall that incorporates PPG Solarban 60, slight tint, low-E tempered glass. The showroom will receive a Carlisle EPDM roof.
