What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2010?
Streamlining the real estate process across several lines of business at JPMorgan has proven beneficial in 2010-I plan to continue those efforts!
What was your most notable project, deal or transaction in 2010?
Notable projects in 2010 include expanding in emerging markets/BRIC countries, the EMEA region and in key US markets.
How do you contribute to your company and / or the industry?
I stay connected to the industry by serving on several real estate boards and I ensure that younger women in the industry are aware of networking events and job opportunities. Diversity is also a key component to broadening the work spectrum and I participate on panels and continue to learn and keep an open dialogue with others.
What advice would you give to women just starting out in commercial real estate?
My advice would be to take risks and make sure you're engaged in the conversation - get a seat at the table. Put in the extra effort to learn and assist others in your group. If you're willing to take on a project, own it, be responsible for it and then deliver a great product, it will be noticed. And then do it again!
How do you manage the work/life balance?
It's a daily challenge to manage work/life balance. I try to be as flexible as possible and bring my blackberry everywhere. This way I can keep my momentum in life with friends, family and colleagues.
Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career?
Current senior colleagues are inspirational to me. I am certainly able to look back upon my career and list many influential people, however the vantage point I have today is truly top-notch!
What impact has social networking had on your business?
Social networking has had a positive and important influence in my professional career. After the Bear Stearns/JPMorgan merger, I relocated to our London office and social networking offered me the opportunity to stay connected with colleagues and to expand my professional network.
