Mack-Cali Corp. receives Energy Star rating for two of its properties
January 24, 2011 - Green Buildings
According to Mack-Cali Realty Corp., two of its properties - 1 Executive Blvd. in South Westchester Executive Park, and 570 Taxter Rd. in Elmsford - have received Energy Star designations.
These awards, given by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Dept. of Energy, are the national symbol for superior energy performance. Commercial buildings that earn the Energy Star use an average of 35% less energy than typical buildings and also release 35% less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Only commercial buildings and industrial plants in the top 25% of facilities in the nation for energy efficiency qualify for this rating.
The four-story, 112,000 s/f, 1 Executive Blvd. was re-certified after initially receiving this status in 2009. The building continues to use monthly physical systems checklists, the Johnson Controls building management system, and ongoing preventative maintenance measures to keep the building running efficiently.
570 Taxter Rd., a six-story, 75,000 s/f office building, earned this first time designation, in part, by ongoing preventative maintenance measures, the use of an Andover Controls building management system, and monthly physical systems checklists.
Mitchell Hersh, Mack-Cali president and CEO, said, "We are pleased to add these buildings to our growing list of properties that have earned the Energy Star. We remain committed to energy-efficient operations and expect to add more properties to this prestigious list."
