Mayor Michael Bloomberg chose F & F Hardware & Supply on Spofford Ave. as the location to explain the city's problems dealing with the Christmas snowstorm.
The mayor's office chose F & F as the location of the press conference because a person in the mayor's office saw F & F trucks making deliveries in Manhattan less than 24 hours after the storm hit.
According to Gary Jacobs, president of F & F, "The mayor's office called and asked us how the streets were in the Bronx the day after the storm, and when we told him they were fine, they asked if they could have the press conference here."
Nick Casella, F & F director of operations, gave the mayor a tour of the facility and introduced him to the F & F staff. According to Casella, "The mayor was particularly interested in the amount of snow removal supplies on hand."
"Part of the problem," said Jacobs, "was that the big box stores were unprepared, and ran out of shovels, sand and salt, while at F & F we had a constant supply for all of our customers, just like we always do. And we even made sure our mechanics were on hand to repair broken snow blowers for our customers."
F & F Supply is a fourth generation full-service hardware, maintenance and supply firm, providing thousands of products to the New York real estate community.
"We want our customers to know that we are here with all of the supplies and products they need, and that weather makes no difference to us. We take our responsibility to provide hardware and maintenance supplies very seriously, and we are glad to support the New York real estate community."
