Fifield Piaker Elman Architects designs 3,000 s/f reception hall

Sutton Place Synagogue has just introduced a refurbished social and entertainment space. Designed by Fifield Piaker Elman Architects, what had been an under-utilized rental facility is again extremely popular for major social and religious events such as wedding and bar/bat mitzvah receptions.
Congregants had avoided using the hall, which was adjacent to a catering kitchen, due to its worn and dated appearance. "This upgrade demonstrates how an institution can make the most of a resource and generate income for its mission" said David Piaker, partner in charge of the renovation. "Our expertise with renovations, especially while a building is in use, made us a natural fit for this project."
The finishes to the 3,000 s/f room had to be durable enough to withstand vigorous use.
