Donnelly Mechanical Corp., a woman-owned business and mechanical contracting and energy services company, received the Green Business-Best Practices Award from the New York Enterprise Report at the Report's fifth annual Small Business Awards, according to Dan Donnelly, CEO of the firm.
Each year the award is given to an entrepreneurial company that has shown the ability to use its best practices or programs to generate competitive advantages, revenue profits and long-term value. Donnelly has embraced green practices in its own business by increasing its recycling of materials, buying hybrid vehicles for its fleet, installing lighting in its headquarters location, and installing an energy dashboard to monitor real-time energy consumption. The firm is currently in the process of installing a roof-mounted photovoltaic system.
Additionally, Donnelly has been a leader in providing its clients with green solutions to improve energy efficiency in their buildings by providing energy benchmarking studies and energy audits, equipment changeouts, and energy service and maintenance agreements.
The Small Business Awards event was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan and had over 400 guests in attendance.
"Since our inception in 1989, Donnelly Mechanical has sought new opportunities to strengthen and grow our business," says Cathy Donnelly, chief financial officer. "It is an honor to be acknowledged for our efforts, particularly those related to green technologies that save our clients money."
