A building wide capital improvement project is underway at The Blake, a rental apartment building located at 220 East 63rd St. between Second and Third Aves. on the Upper East Side. The 182-unit building is undergoing improvements and renovations to its common entrance, lobby, hallways, basement and more than 100 of its private residences. It is expected that all renovations will be completed by Fall 2008. A complete amenity package is being added to the building including a cardio fitness room, residents' lounge and valet service. The Blake features an on-site presentation/leasing office and has newly renovated apartments available for immediate occupancy. The 14-story building offers studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom renovated apartments from 620 to 1,362 s/f. "The Blake will feature clean lines throughout all common areas and private residences to convey both luxury and modernity," said the designer, Amir Khamneipur, owner of Amir K. Design. "These tailored environments reflect the proportion, material and detailing found in yachts, jets and luxury cars. Materials such as dark mahogany, polished chrome, channeled white leather and detailing such as recessed niches and bookcases come together to create clean, modern lines that occasionally flirt with whimsical silhouettes, such as the lobby's Italian hand-blown glass light fixture." "Similar to the unique design of its interior, the building's exterior will stand apart from its more traditional white brick neighbors," said Khamneipur, who framed the building's glass entry doors with a limestone-encased portal and planters landscaped with green boxwood hedges.
