New York Association of Realty Managers to host real estate expo September 22

September 13, 2010 - Owners Developers & Managers
What's new at NYARM? The executive director of the New York Association of Realty Managers, Margie Russell, explained that president/CEO of Miller Samuel, Inc., Jonathan Miller is coming to NYARM at the annual Real Estate Expo on Wednesday, September 22. While the all day event offers free property management certification seminars, one exciting session to sign up for is "Learning To Ensure Compliance with FHA and Fannie Mae guidelines within Condominium Developments." This will cover how management can maintain board member responsibility consistent with federal requirements. The session will feature top-tier professionals in: project approval, lending, appraisal and legal who will share resources that building management can use immediately with their condominium complexes in order to ensure compliance." Moderating the panel with Miller is the CEO of National Condo Advisors, LLP, Orest Tomaselli. NYARM is introducing the green building olympics! Since NYARM is very big on green and energy efficiency, during the entire day at the annual EXPO, NYARM will have available for building managers a series of GREEN test-questions. These questions will determine a building manager's "G Quotient." It will be easily administered in a relaxed setting as attendees move throughout the EXPO. Once the testing is completed, depending on the score, building managers will receive credit towards their initial or renewal property management certification. NYC Comptroller, John Liu, will be the keynote speaker at the opening seminar for the day, which is complying with NYC's energy conservation code (ECC) from 9:30 to 11:15 and co-sponsored with CHIP www.chipnyc.org. NYC's New Energy Conservation and Construction Code requires that renovations, alterations & upgrades meet efficiency standards. Buildings 50,000 s/f, or larger, must conduct analysis and audit of their energy consumption and energy base-building systems; undertake energy-efficient maintenance practices and file an Energy Efficiency Report with NYC DOB. Also, NYARM created an annual award named "The Green Team" and each year a group of property management professionals are honored with the distinction for utilizing the portfolio approach in reducing energy usage.
